Dial gauges are measuring instruments that can accurately measure very small lengths and displacements. Unlike other more basic linear measuring instruments reporting numerical values, they are used to measure the difference compared to a particular reference point. Dial gauges are capable of producing extremely accurate measurement values; increments of.001mm are possible with some gauges. Measurement inputs are transferred to the gauge via a plunger, plungers are generally used in conjunction with a clamp or stand which holds the gauge in a fixed position or reference point in relation to the piece of equipment that is being measured.
Dial gauges are used in a number of different applications but are most popular when measuring clearances to ascertain whether parts will fit in a certain enclosure, or the tolerance of specific machine parts to ensure their accuracy at manufacture.
Owing to the accuracy of these devices our dial gauge calibration service benefits from highly accurate test standards and procedures performed almost exclusively at our laboratory in County Durham, although we are expanding our onsite service regularly to meet customer demand.
Our team of expert technicians are on hand to help you with any queries you have about calibration, servicing or repair.
